During his studies in 2010 Philipp Weber worked together with Daniel Costa on a project that connected culinary notes with musical nuances. The two designers created table ware which made music in order to provoke the diners to interact with each other.
Cutlery connected to the keyboard of a piano, plates that turn into singing bowls and coffee cups which ring simultaneously to the rhythm of swallowing.
The diners become seduced by the potential of each object, they slowly noticing the sounds and the silent moments in between, responding to each other in a musical manner. The guests clink their glasses, pitch the atmosphere and transform the dinner into a musical performance.
‘Diners’ Ensemble’ took place in an old textile factory in Eindhoven, the Netherlands.
